eleven reflections on the nature of all things
april 10th, 2026
I.
all is beauty.
beauty is pleasing.
beauty is ugly.
beauty is everything we have ever known—everything we will ever know—everything we do not and will never know.
II.
i dedicate myself to extolling beauty: celebrating, worshipping, adoring beauty.
i want to hold a mirror to its face and gaze lovingly into it.
i want to echo back the immensity it gives to me.
i want to cradle it in my arms and be cradled in its arms like a newborn.
it is my lover, my muse, my parent, my child, my teacher, my student, my everything, my nothing.
i know no other way to truly experience the universe.
i know no other way to truly experience myself.
III.
beauty is beyond definition.
not because it is actually unknowable.
but because it is all encompassing and thus unknowable through the random channels of reason that the human mind has evolved to possess.
what if we were to throw away the ambition to know and instead walk the path of cultivating awareness?
how could we find solace in an awareness of our essential participation in beauty?
there is nothing more beautiful than allowing the euphoria of existence to flow through us, within us, outside us through the gift of awareness.
IV.
what if we were to look past the binary of the artificial world and the natural world?
we are so much more than the systems of living we have socialized ourselves into.
and yet the systems we have created are just another piece to the beauty of all things.
there is no difference between the nest of the bird and the building of the human.
do we say the bird’s nest is not natural because it is the product of something else?
do we say the bird’s nest is not beautiful because it is the product of something else?
to protect, extol, worship beauty, we must not separate ourselves from the entangled inner-workings of all things.
beauty will live despite us, in spite of us, and because of us.
V.
there are no boundaries between us and everything else.
we are a sea of the infinitesimally small growing, morphing, forming into the infinitesimally big in an endless cycle.
beauty is everywhere and everything.
we are a part of everywhere and everything.
when our feet touch the ground, the atoms that make up our feet commune with the atoms that make up the dirt beneath us.
can you feel the push and pull of the forces between them?
we are never alone.
we are an immense collection of minuscule multitudes.
and the collections that make up a single human are just one clump within an even larger collection of humans, of animals, of living beings, of ecosystems, of the earth, of the solar system, of the milky way, of the universe, of matter, of everything, of nothing.
even when our forms change with death and birth, consumption and release, we never stop being a part of beauty.
beauty is eternal.
we are eternal.
VI.
do not hold yourself back from beauty.
detach from the part of you that fears feeling the enormity of beauty.
the human mind is a random chance reaction to all that came before us.
and since it was designed out of the beauty of chaos, there are parts of the mind that help us connect to beauty and parts of the mind that hide us from beauty.
this is neither good nor bad.
it just is.
through cultivating the mind’s potential for awareness, we can find beauty in spite of the instincts that train us to fear and hurt ourselves, others, and all that is around us.
we fear beauty because it challenges these ancient biological and social systems that have guaranteed our survival up until this point.
we fear beauty because it will continue to be whether we live or die.
beauty is because we live and die.
it is both ambivalent and the most doting caregiver.
we must let go of our instinctual fear of dying, of ceasing, of being nothing and allow ourselves to become everything.
from nothing came everything.
from everything comes nothing.
we are a part of it all.
we always have been and always will be.
we are the universe.
and the universe is us.
VII.
to be aware of beauty, we must hold contradicting ideas in ourselves.
to be aware of beauty, we must let go of systems of power, hierarchy, and control that close us off from the unknowable, chaotic, and illogical immensity of beauty.
these systems and the human instinct to create them too are a part of this beauty—we must not forget.
but when we blend our awareness too deeply with these constructs we blind ourselves to seeing all that beauty can, will, and does contain.
in recognizing the inherent ambivalence of these value systems in the macro/microcosm of all, we can take a step closer to deeply experiencing the sublime of beauty.
the complexities of the world we have created for ourselves is without a doubt a source of awe.
but we can bask in amazement over all we have created without letting it become us.
the roots do not define the tree but connect it to where it comes from and nurture it to reach for the heavens.
VIII.
in liberation from the essentialisms of our survival strategies, we can see news ways of elevating, extolling, worshiping beauty.
all that we do should serve to continue the beautiful dream that is the existence of all.
how blessed are we that we have the potential to be aware of the beauty of all!
how blessed are we that we can experience the beauty of all by breathing, loving, crying, screaming, playing, moving, thinking!
how blessed are we that we are constantly growing, changing, evolving into new reflections of beauty!
we must remember these blessings every moment of our existence and strive to experience all that they offer us.
there is no shame in allowing ourselves to deeply feel the pleasures that existence affords us.
there is no greater way to show gratitude than to be mindfully aware of the pleasure we receive and to give pleasure and beauty back.
IX.
since the miracle of the human mind can taste the sublime of beauty, should we not do everything in our humble, highly subjective, microscopic ability to uplift the beauty around us, within us, of us?
through the creative force of the human mind, we harmonize with, make love to, and worship the beautiful dream of existence.
to truly love and experience beauty, we must create.
we must sing, draw, love, care, play, question, dance, explore, wonder, touch, connect.
and in this regard, our awareness gives us the awe inspiring ability to set intention.
we must reckon with the reality that creation necessitates destruction.
destruction is an equally important and beautiful player in the drama of existence, but beauty can be forgotten when we abuse destruction to protect our egos rather than to steward the beautiful and necessary cycle of death and rebirth.
but we must not allow the history of the injustices we have done to the gift of existence to lead us to despair and overlook how beauty persists even when we have scorned it.
we can choose how and in what ways we destroy.
let us worship beauty more deeply, fervently, and wholeheartedly by minimizing unnecessary suffering that only serves to ignore, scoff, and disrespect the blessings of existence.
let us worship beauty more deeply, fervently, and wholeheartedly by focusing our awareness towards supporting existence rather than tearing it down through the once perhaps adaptive but clearly harmful neuroses of conquest and consumption.
let us worship beauty more deeply, fervently, and wholeheartedly by focusing the gifts of existence towards the beauty of creation and connection.
X.
how euphoric it is to be a part of it all!
how euphoric it is to be aware of the magnitude and microtude of all things!
what a miracle it is to have a mind that grants us a humble glimpse into the awareness of all things!
what a miracle it is to feel and experience existence!
there is no ordained, designed reason for our existence.
And! Yet! We! Do! Exist!
there is no reason for the universe to have gathered together in the clumps it has.
and there will be no reason for how the universe will rearrange, remix itself long after this text you are reading, my dear dear reader, has long disappeared from this dream.
it is but a single momentary cough in the symphony of all that is and will be.
but the joy in that!
the freedom in that!
the beauty in that!
look at how we can enthusiastically participate in this dream!
let us give our all to the all it gives us.
XI.
in this exact moment, all of existence has by chance formed itself in a way that has allowed us the honor of sharing this moment together.
and when we are gone, the existence that was us will continue to be us in unimaginable ways as it cycles and spirals through all that is—everything and nothing and everything again.
the moment you are aware of the immensity of this beauty, it will never stop—you will never stop.
it’s an immutable part of you.
and you are an immutable part of it.
you are all.
you are beauty.
